Toyota launches the US version of the "unpronounceable". Bz4x ev the automaker has made a poor start to its new vehicle with a large recall announced on Thursday. This was due to an extremely dangerous situation in which the wheels could separate while being driven at high speeds. The recall affects approximately 2‚700 electric crossovers -- 2500 are for Europe‚ and 260‚ 110‚ Japan‚ 20 to Canada‚ and 110 respectively. Owners are asked to immediately park their cars and stop driving until an alternative solution is found. Toyota stated in a Thursday notice that no one should drive the vehicles until this remedy has been implemented. All of the bolts holding the wheels together can become loosening over time‚ especially if the vehicle is used for low mileage. A wheel that is loosening while being driven can cause loss of control and increase the chance of an accident. We are currently investigating the cause and possible driving habits that could lead to this problem. Subaru issued an identical recall on approximately 2‚600 Solterra electric vehicles. The EVs will function identically to the bZ4X‚ and they are manufactured at Toyota's Motomachi plant. Toyota engineers are yet to provide a resolution.
